Changes to the Site

Well, it has been a year and a half and here is the first quarterly newsletter. I am so sorry to take so long to get going!

The main change to the site is the addition of nine new topics in the Methods section. These topics are all presented as notebooks which are each stand-alone PDF files. Partly, this is to shorten my publication cycle and partly to ease the burden of updating these notebooks over time. I use the content in these nine notebooks in my commercial practice to teach use case methods. Typically, I tailor exercises to the domain of the client, so I've stripped out most exercise content from these notebooks. Instead, I hope to create a reference domain model I can use for teaching purposes and publish on the site—maybe next year.

I hope to update both the UI Patterns and the UI Style sections probably early in 2005.

If you have problems with these or any other look-and-feel aspect of this site please email me at jartim@primaryview.org.

Upcoming Events

The Usability Professionals Association has its annual conference June 27 - July 1, 2005 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They have, over the past few years, had interesting workshops on patterns and style guides. See http://www.upassoc.org/conferences_and_events/upa_conference/2005/index.html for the Call for Participation.

If I find out about any other conferences or workshops and the deadline is impending, I'll send out a brief note between newsletters.

Thank you for your time. I hope you continue to find the site useful!
